Lorenzo Quinn
14 Jan 2009 - 28 Feb 2009 | 24 Bruton Street, London
This exhibition brings together a collection of Lorenzo Quinn’s major sculptures. New monumental works, including ‘Love’ and ‘Force of Nature’, are exhibited for the first time. Many of these new sculptures are the culmination of a theme that the artist has been developing.
Lorenzo’s emotional, political and religious views are reflected through his use of symbolism and striking composition. Each work is accompanied by a poem from which his visual interpretations develop.
Utilising the lost-wax process of casting, which is the oldest known form of casting, Lorenzo sculpts forms encompassing the human figure. Sometimes only part of the body is present, such as the hands, the feet, or an eye, yet the expression or mood of the piece is clearly apparent.
In 2007 Halcyon Gallery published Lorenzo Quinn: a book commemorating the artist’s works. Along with many of Lorenzo’s sculptures, the book includes monumental pieces installed in public locations and private collections.
Please contact the gallery for further information on the exhibition and the recent publication.
