Halcyon Gallery are delighted to announce the recent inauguration of Dashi Namdakov as an honorary member of the Florence Academy of Arts and Design. The appointment, which was announced on Friday October 9, 2015 was overseen by the President’s Council of the academy.
During a traditional ceremony held by Cardinal Giuseppe Bettor, Archbishop of Florence, in the chapel at the monastery of Santissima Annunziata, the new, elected members of the academy were announced. It was noted that for 450 years of the Academy life, from the time of Lorenzo de 'Medici, only a few Russians, including members of the royal family and prominent Russian artists of the 19th century have become members of the Florentine Academy. Dashi Namdakov donated his sculpture, Morning which will be exhibited at the academy’s museum.
The 80 members of the Academy represent outstanding artists, sculptors and architects, critics and patrons.
