Conductor: The Light of Stars

Dominic Harris invites us to collaborate with him in the creation of this multi-sensory artwork by placing the viewer in a commanding position over the vast digital universe that he has created, becoming the omnipotent conductor of a cosmic symphony.

Whilst we interact with this artwork, a music composition written by Harris’ long-term collaborators, Dougal Drummond and Kristian Gilroy is heard, meanwhile The Light of Stars (1838) a poem by Sir Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is narrated by João Victor, a 2019 finalist in the USA National Poetry Recitation Competition. This piece of romantic literature expresses the poet’s sublime experience of looking up at the universe, reinforcing the sense of awe, overwhelming vastness and serenity that Harris captures in Conductor.

'I am constantly fascinated by the reversal of roles I create by allowing the viewer to become an active participant within my art.'
