Halcyon Gallery is pleased to announce our forthcoming spring programme which will run in succession from April through to the end of July 2014. New Contemporaries is a platform for a specific group of contemporary artists to exhibit fresh ideas, concepts and newly developed bodies of work. Halcyon New Contemporaries will showcase new works by Ernesto Cánovas, Santiago Montoya and Pedro Paricio along with selected works by new artist John Bauer.
Created in his Los Angeles studio, American artist John Bauer creates non-figurative works through complex layering and gestural mark making. The artist’s dark palette of blacks and greys, often with metallic elements or an added cyan or magenta, relate as much to the fashion and interior design of the 1980s as to Abstract Expressionism. Using photographed and digitised originals as a basis for his work, Bauer’s multi-layered paintings echo his earlier compositions, commenting on the limitless possibilities for duplication and repetition afforded by technology.
Halcyon Gallery New Contemporaries will also be exhibited in Halcyon Gallery Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL
